A little time with family before heading home

Family, Kenny, Titus

img_2020-blog.jpgIt was so great to be with family again. It isn’t very often that the whole family comes together. Not only did I get to be with all my Georgia family, but most of my family (cousins and such) came up as well.  It had been close to 3 years since I spent any time with my cousins, so it was great to spend some time with them. Initially, Titus and I were set to come home on Wednesday. Mama’s breathing had gotten a little more labored over the night. The doctors did not really know if she would wake up, so there was no telling how long this might go on. All of Sara’s family was arriving in Texas for Thanksgiving, so Dad and I set off for the airport. I was fairly certain that Sara and I would be returning to Valdosta just after the weekend, but nothing was really clear.

About half way to the airport, mom called. The doctor came in and let us know that Mama probably wouldn’t make it through the day. Since my ticket was one that could be moved, I turned around and headed back to Valdosta. Between naps and feedings, Titus and I made trips back and fourth to the hospital. I also spent most of the day with my cousins (Carrie and MIranda). Since mama was headed downhill, my brother Gene hopped on a plane and started making his way home (he was coming from London).

I got to bed that night at about 1:00 AM (Titus was in bed by 7:00 though). Gene arrived from the airport at 3:00 AM, so I ran up there to spend a little while with him, mom and mama. By 5:00, I headed to the house to shower, get packed up and start heading back to the airport in Jacksonville. Once again, we were off!
